Food Lab was set up in 2009 to enable academic collaboration in the field of Food History, with a focus on historical and economic dynamics.

It has a high profile in Food History Studies and Food Studies internationally.

Members take part in conferences and seminars and have produced numerous academic  publications.

Food Lab has collaboration agreements with other research institutions, and in 2014 set up FH-net, an  international network for studying the intangible heritage of food.
